View North Shore Challenge in a larger map

Experience & Cutoff time
The long course is for experienced and fast paddlers only. In typical conditions, times for the frontrunners are about 30 minutes longer, and for the middle of the pack 45-60 minutes longer. The cutoff time is 4 hours and 30 minutes, so if you believe, or in our judgement from reviewing past race results that you may not be able to make it close to 4:30, you may need to do the short course. You should be able to do M2M in about 3:30 or less in order to do this race. This is for safety so that our safety boats aren't as spread out, so we can't just say that you can do it and pull out if you're still far away from the finish. It is also important for safety that we can get an accurate count more quickly at the end of the race to ensure that everyone is safely back to shore.

Registration
Pre-registration is required! There is no morning-of registration for this race. You can register online until midnight, Thursday March 31st. If you are Paypal-phobic, you can mail a check to our registration team (address on registration page, not the same as the general address). Anything sent through the mail must be received by March 28. We will also be having in person pre-registration event on Thursday, March 31st 4:30-6:30pm, in Kahului (probably Hawaiian Canoe Club's hale, stay tuned for exact location).
Also, Juniors must have a paper waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Jerseys
You must wear a bright, visible jersey. This is for safety, and there are no exceptions. No nudge nudge, wink wink like in some previous years, we have to be strict on this. Failure to wear a bright visible jersey for the entire duration of the race will result in a DQ and no time. Whether or not a jersey qualifies as bright and visible is at the sole discretion of the Race Director. If in doubt, find the most obnoxiously bright jersey you can get your hands on.

Experience Required
This is an open ocean race, participants must have open ocean experience. There will be a section on the entry form for you to describe your open ocean experience on OC-1/OC-2/SS/SUP. If you do not have sufficient open ocean experience, you may be required to have an escort boat, or your entry may not be approved. Your entry fee will be refunded if denied. Feel free to email us if you're not sure.

No Outside Alcohol
Duke's is providing us with an awesome venue and beer. The policy for their property is no outside alcohol, so please don't bring your own, drink theirs instead! (please only drink responsibly)

Registration
Pre-registration is required! There is no morning-of registration for this race. You can register online until midnight, Sunday April 10th. If you are Paypal-phobic, you can mail a check to our registration team (address on registration page, not the same as the general address). Anything sent through the mail must be received by April 6. We will also be having in person pre-registration event on Friday, April 8th 4:30-6:30pm, in Kahului (probably Hawaiian Canoe Club's hale, stay tuned for exact location).
Also, Juniors must have a paper waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Experience & Cutoff time
This race is for experienced paddlers only. The cutoff time is 4 hours and 30 minutes, so if you believe, or in our judgement from reviewing past race results that you may not be able to make it close to 4:30, you may not be able to race, or you may be required to have your own escort boat (not jetski). This is for safety so that our safety boats aren't too spread out, so we can't just say that you can do it and pull out if you're still far away from the finish. It is also important for safety that we can get an accurate count more quickly at the end of the race to ensure that everyone is in.

Jerseys
You must wear the official Maui to Moloka'i Jersey (included in registration). This is for safety, and there are no exceptions. No nudge nudge, wink wink like in some previous years, we have to be strict on this. Failure to wear the jersey for the entire duration of the race will result in a DQ and no time. We did our best to order enough of each size to accommodate everybody, however, sizes will be given in the order that you register, so register early to ensure you get the size you want!

Race Finish:

Ozone, formerly known as Maui Fiberglass, has been designing and building canoes for 20 years. Ozone builds the Ehukai, Hurricane, Pegasus, Scorpius, Scorpius XM, Scorpius XS, Storm, and Tempest. They also make spray skirts for a variety of OC-6 canoes. Their latest product is the new unlimited OC-6 canoe.

Kai Wa'a canoes are built and designed by paddlers in Maui, Hawaii. We also have a factory in China that we work with closely. Our goal is simple, to bring you the best canoe for your size and paddling style. We took a proven design and created alternate versions with slightly different specs so every paddler will have a boat that is right for him or her. Our canoes are proven in the ocean and on the racing circuit. You will find that Kai Wa'a canoes surf well, glide well, are comfortable to ride are built with the highest standards.

2016 Like Poke Season Opener Results

These results are based on the times/order that paddlers crossed the finish line. Due to adverse conditions, many paddlers turned around early for their own safety, so some paddlers covered a lot more distance than others.
